Solidarity Is Global Institute-JO (SIGI) held a panel discussion on the evening of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, as part of its "Wednesday Cultural Evening" program. The session focused on the current state of women's participation in the mental health sector and the challenges they face.
The session was moderated by journalist Haifa Al-Abdullah and featured guest speakers, psychologist Fatima Hdeib and psychological counselor Ohoud Al Khatib. The discussion included the participation of heads of associations, university students, professionals in the psychological field, and the program’s regular audience.
The session explored the vital role that women play in the mental health services sector, highlighting the importance of psychological support for workers in this field—particularly women, who may experience various psychological pressures stemming from both work-related burdens and prevailing societal attitudes toward women's issues.
Speakers and participants emphasized the importance of hosting such discussions to address the challenges women face across different sectors, especially the mental health field, which plays a crucial role in promoting the overall psychological well-being of society.
The session concluded with a rich and interactive dialogue, during which experiences and perspectives were exchanged on how best to support women in this sector. Participants reaffirmed the need to continue discussions around mental health services, particularly those targeting women.
