SIGI: The importance of the meeting lies in enhancing cooperation and supporting the resilience of Palestinian women
On Thursday, Solidarity Is Global Institute-JO (SIGI) welcomed a Palestinian women’s delegation from the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC) in Jerusalem. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and exchange experiences between the two organizations working in the field of women’s rights.
WCLAC is one of the leading human rights institutions working to empower Palestinian women, protect their rights, and uphold the principles of justice and equality in the face of the ongoing occupation and the multiple forms of violence and discrimination they endure.
The delegation was received by Mrs. Enaam Asha, SIGI’s Executive Director and Counselor, along with several members of the organization’s team. Al-Asha welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of such meetings in building bridges among women across different contexts, and in affirming genuine solidarity as a value of resistance in confronting political and social challenges.
The meeting included an in-depth discussion on the status of women in Palestine, with a focus on the legal, social, health, and economic challenges women face under occupation. Participants also shared key services related to legal and psychological support, community awareness, and policy advocacy.
The visiting delegates highlighted the value of learning from Jordanian experiences—both official and civil society efforts—across various sectors. They praised the many achievements of Jordanian women, particularly under the country’s legal protections and its commitment to advancing gender equality in different fields.
In conclusion, both parties stressed the importance of maintaining communication and networking, and expanding areas of cooperation through joint projects that promote and defend women’s rights—especially in light of the ongoing violations faced by Palestinian women and the growing regional challenges that require collective feminist responses.
