Ms. Samar Al-Jabrah, representing the Jordanian Women’s Solidarity Institute, participated in the National Scientific Conference entitled “The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Responding to and Limiting the Spread of Drug Abuse,” held under the patronage of H.E. Wafa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Social Development.
The conference featured a number of panel discussions that explored frameworks for cooperation and integration among various sectors, highlighting the roles of the media, the private healthcare sector, educational institutions, and civil society organizations in addressing this issue and mitigating its impact on society.
During her participation, Ms. Al-Jabrah emphasized the pivotal role of civil society organizations in supporting national efforts, stressing that confronting this phenomenon is a shared societal responsibility that requires collective action to safeguard the security and stability of the community.
She also called for intensifying awareness campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse and utilizing digital media to produce awareness-raising content targeting different age groups, particularly adolescents. In addition, she highlighted the importance of incorporating topics related to drug prevention and awareness into school curricula to enhance students’ understanding of the risks associated with this phenomenon and promote preventive behaviors.
